I am no intellectual – most of my knowledge about drugs is from personal experience, some good, some not so good… ironically I flunked A level chemistry because I spent more time doing “unofficial experiments” 😉
Getting back to cannabis or any other drugs, I simply don’t want to see any more people fuck up and give more ammunition to the prohibitionists so try to pass on what I may have learned the hard way over the years – there are others of my generation here like Raj (who is brainy and has degrees etc) trying to do the same..
when the documentary “blamed the ravers” for starting off drugs culture they were telling the truth IMO but it spanned all drugs. Until the late 1980s there simply wasn’t a mainstream drugs culture in the UK – it was confined to people like the “peace convoy/punks/anarchists” and drugs were hard to get until the 1990s.
Although the rave scene revolved more around stimulants, it did normalise cannabis use as a “comedown” drug. 1990s pills contained way more MD but gave you much worse mood swings, to the point by midweek you could end up doing stupid things such getting angry and irritable snapping at people close to you what love and care for you. Cannabis did sometimes stop you feeling this way and doing this but could just as easily make things worse.
