This is the first time I’ve heard of something like this happening in decades and is a dodgy precedent…

just because it doesn’t yet happen down south or in your region won’t mean the cops couldn’t try it so be aware..

this quote is from Ricky Wally, a festival organiser since the 1970s and relates to a festival in the Stanhope, North Pennines area.

The police force trying to press charges is Durham Constabulary..

Yesterday Andy Thimbleberry was arrested for allowing people to smoke cannabis on his premises during the festival. He was yesterday formally charged and is due to appear in court on this charge early December.

As part of the production team I am waiting to see if I get arrested for aiding and abetting the smoking of cannabis on the festival site.

I wonder how this will effect any festival in the future as it will set the president that any person allowing a festival to happen on their land will or could be charged with the same offense.

So what do people think about this news?

The festival was the safest ever and people said it was like being at one of the early Stonehenge festivals. So it seems the fight must go on to allow us the right to have festivals in this country.

That said, I don’t think most young people of EA what are having otherwise decent lifes are actually having any real problems with cannabis or any other drug (even ketamine) as they aren’t stupid and know where to stop.

The real reason youths are getting into trouble with drugs is that there is often fuck all hope for a lot of them and they dont’ feel they can achieve anything lasting in life.. (not everyone is as brainy as chaps like josh or has such a supportive network of friends and family – if they were there wouldn’t be that news report)
