‘Gang planned to smuggle coke in pianos’

POLICE overheard a man discussing massive cocaine deals, the Old Bailey was told.

James Ward, 53, is said to have ordered hollowedout pianos and furniture to hide drugs.

He and six others plotted to fill them with cocaine and cannabis and ship them to Britain, it is claimed.

Ward admits he was involved in a consignment of 60kg of cannabis that was intercepted by police in March last year.

But he denies having anything to do with an alleged plot to smuggle 9kg of cocaine.

Police bugged Ward’s “safe house” in Brynmaer Road, Battersea, and the jury has heard tapes recorded there which are said to prove his links to the cocaine trade.

On Friday, Ward told the court he was not talking seriously about selling drugs.

Ward claimed in many of the taped discussions he was joking with friends after smoking cannabis.

In July last year Ward is said to have organised a consignment of 9gk of cocaine with two other men.

The drugs were brought into Britain by a lorry driver who handed them over to Terrence Pyne, 49, it is claimed.

But Pyne, of Byfield Close, Rotherhithe, is said to have panicked when police arrived and left the package – worth up to £500,000 – under bushes. Paul Woods, of Rotherhithe, was then allegedly recruited to pick up the package up but the 31-year-old was arrested as he did so.

Ward, of Ham Street Road, Ruckinge, Kent, along with Pyne and Woods, denies conspiracy to supply cocaine.

gotta say after using “coke “for 7 yrs plus on a weekend basis and coming to terms with the fact that i love the stuff but can also love it too much have learned to control my use of what i consider to be a pukker substance when not bought off some dodgy fukker who tramples all over it for the extra line or three for himself,personallly i have a top 3 of drugs number 1-good skunk…2-coke ….3-mdma….and think these three compliment each other perfectly,ill admit straight im a bastard for coke if theres a line w my name on ill snort the fooker mornin noon or night,i can understand people saying its overrated and over priced but 40 nikker for a good weekend sesh is fukall imo..over and out….im off for a line 🙂

worth noting this thread has lasted over a year and the price has dropped considerably in recent times…i suppose thats in a way good as it would make people share it more and be less secretive/selfish, but OTOH the price drop is probably being fed by the demand for crack in cities….

yep that tends 2 be the case with the old-skool lot (we saw crack totally wreck the party scene by the mid 90s which is one reason free parties happened, and now free parties are being fucked up by it…).

Piano-smuggling drug gang caught after cops bug flat

A DRUGS gang was jailed for a total of 47 years for plotting to smuggle cocaine into South London in hollowed-out pianos.

They had the musical instruments and other furniture specially made with secret compartments where they could stuff huge quantities of drugs.

But the plans were rumbled when police hid bugging devices in their safe house and recorded them discussing the plot.

The dealers were caught driving a van full of cannabis resin hidden in two revolving bookcases and a chair in the shape of a Harley Davidson motorbike.

Ringleader James Ward, 53, of Ham Street Road, Ruckinge, Kent, and Gary Vian, 44, of Crest Road, South Croydon, were found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine by an Old Bailey jury on Tuesday.

Ward was also found guilty of conspiracy to supply cocaine in relation to a 9kg consignment of the drug.

The pair had already admitted conspiracy to supply cannabis.

On Wednesday, Ward was jailed for 17 years by Judge Stephen Kramer, while Vian was jailed for 14.

His henchmen Paul Martin, 51, of Lynton Road, Bermondsey, was jailed for 12 years and Roy Webber, 42, of Shelley Close, Basingstoke, for four years after they admitted their roles in the plot.

Ward ran the operation from a safe house in Brynmaer Road, Battersea.

He processed cocaine at the factory and protected it with bars on the windows and an armoured bar on the door.

Police intercepted a van containing £240,000 worth of cannabis being driven by Webber through Croydon on March 12 last year.

Martin was arrested as he sat in a Deptford pie and mash shop.

Used to do a gram of coke every weekend for a year, the only thing it ever did for me was takeaway the drunk feeling, which was good on an all day drinking session.
Now, i steer clear because of the expense. Can be hard to say no when im drunk tho. Me and my mates always used to share, no questions asked, but more to do with the pill munching and pot smoking days.

Id sooner spend my notes on pills. Especially as ive managed to find em for a pound a pop.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) – Authorities seized 5 tons of cocaine hidden in reels of steel cable in the Port of Rotterdam last month in what prosecutors described Monday as one of the country’s biggest drug busts.

The seizure was the largest in the Netherlands in terms of value, with an estimated street worth of $275 million.

Eleven men and two women of six nationalities were arrested after the seizure on Aug. 3 – most of them last weekend. A 45-year-old Colombian suspect died after falling from an apartment window in Amsterdam, prosecutors said in a statement.

Prosecutors said the man died while trying to escape during a police raid, but national investigators have launched an independent inquiry into his death.

The seizure was kept secret while the arrests were prepared. Police in Spain and Belgium have made an undisclosed number of additional arrests in the case, Dutch prosecutors said.

The 13 suspects were from the Netherlands, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Greece and the United States, and their ages ranged from 15 to 50, prosecutors said.

Additional arrests were possible, they said.

The cocaine was concealed within reels of steel cable 12 feet high and 6 feet wide. The drugs were divided between two shipping containers recorded as having been sent from Venezuela and bound for Iraq via Belgium. The cocaine was unloaded in Rotterdam.

Coke can be a great buzz,as long as you use it in moderation,and you get good quality stuff. There is too much shit flying about. You also have to be in good company i think to enjoy it,wanna go clubbing? do a pill or 2, wanna have a cosy night in,listen to some good music,enjoy good company? get an eight of coke and stay in with friends. I am 33 now and have been doing chemicals since 1989, i would recommend coke in moderation,maybe a monthly or special occasion. Dont buy 30 pound bags of street chavs cos it will be shite,buy at least an eighth for a good buzz.

yeah but at least it would last all night!! I do big lines!! It would be gone half way through the night plus I would probably buy alchohol on top of that anyway! So thas what 70 – 100 not worth it!!
