sodium thiopental isnt even that good as a “truth serum” as the confessions thus obtained are (unsurprisingly) often unreliable. Although miilitary and civillian interrogators have used depressants, stimulants and psychedelics – both on their targets and sometimes on themselves [to desensetise themselves to what they are doing] its not that operationally effective.
the use of drugs can trigger impulsive behaviour in many people and reduce inhibitions of shy people which is why folk take tnem but part of harm reduction is being aware of this; especially as this is a big reason why these drugs get controlled.
Cathinones (as well as MDMA and some other stimulants) can tend to encourage “instant pleasure seeking” behaviour but how far the user takes it depends on their personal morals and culture.
Although its commonly believed that mephedrone and MDMA encourage increased empathy, friendliness and affection [which isn’t untrue at least during the high] this can easily get misdirected or twisted into immoral or even criminal behaviour. I’ve seen people on good quality MDMA pills turn quite psychotic and even violent.
I grew up in an affluent part of SE England [about 50km West of London] during the 1980s/1990s when society became way more tolerant/permissive all sorts of drugs were readily available (the Police were underfunded and lacked effective comms and surveillance systems) and although we had fun there was an undercurrent of mistrust, infidelity, STIs and domestic violence (I’d often hear all the fallout from this midweek when I listened on my radio scanner to the Police and Ambulance services).
I’m not a social/religious conservative by any means but there is still some room for “old fashioned moral valies” in todays society
