Vets and human healthcare facilities fill in loads of paperwork, order from approved suppliers only, and have to store the stuff securely. The pattern and frequency of the orders is monitored, and the stores are regularly checked and counted and if any goes missing it is treated very seriously the staff are interviewed by both senior management and the Police.

Also the Border Agency is a lot harsher on stuff coming in from India, plus the Indian feds/customs are busting their local dealers hard. The same applies for other Asian nations where the stuff might come from, and their feds have guns and don’t bother with human rights or political correctness – some countries also enforce the death penalty for high level dealing.

Closer to home, now people are actually going to jail for dealing the stuff this has put off a lot of the smaller time dealers who by and large are otherwise law abiding middle class kids with careers, education etc and don’t want to fuck up their lives with a criminal record.

I’ve just popped into a remote office of my employers to check on the electric supply as I thought it had lost power in the night. (thankfully it had not)

it is where they train healthcare workers on basic first aid and other stuff, and they have been moving things around in there – this is why I thought the power was off as someone in their wisdom had turned round a router so I couldn’t see the power lights from the outside, and feared the worst.

However another thing lying around was a cartoon poster on how to put people in the recovery position if they have sparked out. It was either issued by the local Council or the NHS PCT / East of England Ambulance, and given out free to local community groups, and designed locally.

Interestingly despite our patients usually being aged 70 – 100 + , the cartoon was of a young girl, in combat trousers, dreadlocks and a tie-dye/hippy style top, sparked out in a field clearly looking like she had overdone it. Normally these first aid things are of old people or folk in suits/work clothes etc (like a builder who has fallen from the ladder etc).

I had seen the poster before – it was issued at the height of the East Anglian rave scene towards the end of the Noughties (2006/7). I don’t think that the artists choice of patient was just a coincidence.
