ON TOPIC – there is actually a really simple way to handle this, but it does require time and planning.

Teach your kids to make their own beer and wine. Takes weeks for beer, months for wine.

It teaches them that the prices they pay in shops for alcohol are A RIP OFF.

It teaches them that things are worth waiting for.

It teaches them of the EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL under controlled conditions, thus how alcohol should be respected.

Also, it breaks no laws, unless you live in a puritanical regime like Saudi Arabia of course. In which case even thinking about alcohol is punishable with 100 lashes.

That’s how I was brought up, that’s how a really top public school like SummerHill operates.
