I can’t help thinking there’s more than a few Afghans and Pakistanis who are like “Phew! At least 3 less nutcases showing up and causing trouble.”

Now, if all the NATO troops get withdrawn (and the main player the US has committed to withdrawal by the end of 2014) then there’s no “foreigners invading Islamic lands.”

That strikes me as the most effective way to prevent attacks on NATO troops – get them out of the combat zone.

Sorry but has this bloke been pulling bongs? What is his point? Is he just being a grammar nazi or does he genuinely not understand specific elements of the story?

Why is it so hard to understand the concept of training camps, or being a “failed” PCSO?

That if you remove the motivation for international terrorism, you might actually reduce international terrorism.

Well, the story is basically that somebody was rude to a judge in court. That is not the preserve of those who use religious differences as an excuse to commit violence, hence my use of the term “nutjobs”, which covers a wide variety of deranged thinkers. It’s more the deranged doers that cause the problems.

Why is it so hard to understand that the people living in Afghanistan and Pakistan are sick to the teeth of all kinds of foreigners showing up with guns and and bombs, telling them that violence will not be tolerated?

Here’s a fact – Hamid Karzai, the elected leader of Afghanistan, has asked and demanded foreign intervention be ended.

It’s not just the Taliban and Islamists who are fed up of this caper – flames of hatred being continually fanned and arms suppliers laughing all the way to the bank.

Er, yeah but it’s a story in a NEWSPAPER. They are not exactly known for reporting the truth exactly as it happened. In fact it is a reporter’s job to sex-up and sensationalize normally mundane stories to make them sound more dramatic. It fills the gaps and helps to sell more papers.

I found the things that he focused on to be classroom sarcasm, of course he didn’t fail the written exam, he obviously just proved himself to not be up to the job. The fact that he found that kind of wording to be so amusing amazes me as he seems like an intelligent and articulate person.

Don’t get me wrong, foreign intervention SHOULD end. We are forever following the Americans in sticking their noses into things that don’t concern them.
