Because there’s a DOS exploit in our software which allowed some nice person to force the site offline briefly a month ago and who’s tried it several times since then. Having said that when it first happened I put some mitigation in place to make it harder for them which helped. However given their determination I was forced to shut it temporarily when they tried again on tuesday night. Anyway I’ve been in touch with one of the code authors of the hack were using and the problem should be fixed sometime in the future, I hope..
ps: Please don’t mention this in public!

:rant::rant::rant:i wondered if pv was being hacked the other night; hopefully code will be fixed soon :rant::rant::rant:
my lips are sealed
/me spills tea all down their clothes
Cool no worries
/me reaches for the cellotape roll again to keep mouth shut… hehe
mariasupial did send me a text about access probs earlier in the week but I have been in an office with no broadband and couldn’t check this out, by the time I got home I guess you had fixed things.
have you still got the IP of whoever was attacking the site?
Having been completely ignored in the past whilst trying to raise a complaint against with a number of ISPs for spam or troll issues, I haven’t bothered. It’s a blatant flaw and I can’t be arsed to chase after a ghost user who could be anyone or complain to an ISP who doesn’t give a shit…
do we know any friendly hackers…:devil_wag:devil_wag:devil_wag
can see your point though
you’d think they’d have something better to do than try and hack the site because they were being ignored
:rant::rant::rant:
Is this an actual blatent hack attempt or is it someone with some serious bandwidth using a download manager to lock the server up ?
It’s a flaw in the hack’s software…
Right, i though it might be malicious. A good reason for people to subscribe though, it wont hurt the community while its fixed. They can always listen to the ready for their tunes fix 🙂
For sure, I am concerned about people getting shirty if we’re seen to be charging a subscription fee to download their mixes or movies though. What do we make of this? To me it’s no different to be charged to get into a free party since no-ones making a profit and everything goes back into the community…
well you are waiting for a fix so why not just put up a notice on the download section saying its temporary and apologising from the bottom of our shoes and see how it goes until the hack is repaired?:idea:
if you get loads of complaints you can reconsider your position at the point where you have a fix; if you dont no problem:crazy_fre
