    here’s why pot’s illegal;
    The DuPont Chemical Company had, in 1937, been granted a patent on a sulfuric acid process to make paper from wood pulp. At the time DuPont predicted their sulfuric acid process would account for 80% of their business for the next 50 years. William Randolph Hearst, who made millions from paper production, became a strong advocate for elimination of hemp. DuPont also had just invented nylon, and saw rope made from hemp fiber as a rival product, a significant threat.
    these guys caused all this criminilising shit to benefit there own pockets,these fucking yanks have a lot to answer for;

    Harry J. Anslinger, who headed the Bureau of Narcotics, was the man behind anti-marijuana cult film “Reefer Madness.” Anslinger was an extremely ambitious man, and he recognized the Bureau of Narcotics as an amazing career opportunity — a new government agency with the opportunity to define both the problem and the solution. He immediately realized that opiates and cocaine wouldn’t be enough to help build his agency, so he latched on to marijuana and started to work on making it illegal at the federal level.

    what a shower of bastards

    It’s not actually the plant itself but the people who misuse it. Cannabis was beneficial in medicine; it has to be an herbal medicine only if it weren’t used by others as an abusive drug.

    When u refer to abusive and marijuana in the same sentence… i have trouble understanding… are you saying that people abusively use marijuana?

    There really is

    Well… OK, there CAN be. If you are totally dependent on being stoned, then you completely avoid of life without the holy herb.

    Having said that, there can be underlying mental or physical trauma which you CAN’T SEE. But which the user can FEEL. And the herb can be a palliative or even in some cases part of a cure. I’ve seen people who were completely fucked get back on their feet with the help of weed.

    Don’t judge a book by its cover. Every case is different. But I have to agree with you to some extent P0ly – some people, maybe most, do FAR TOO MUCH weed. That’s not ideal. But it’s less damaging than other habits. Lesser of 2 evils.

    Linky no work. But the short answer to why cannabis is illegal is because you can make really good bio fuel, food, medicine, clothes, rope and a lot of other stuff with it which would cause problems for the petro-chemical industries

    Do a Google on “henry ford cannabis car” and you’ll find what I mean.

    Like stated the link doesn’t work…

    Either way I’m guessing it’s because most drug ‘issues/events’ are negative in nature (abuse/violence/addiction) and they’ve sort of labeled anything with recreational value as illegal.. Hopefully in the future it’ll be allot more appropriately ‘classified/dealt with’…

    I actually read somewhere that you can produce diesel from cannabis/hemp?

    Not quite. Oil is thicker than diesel. But you can use it as a precursor to bio-fuel.

    Mind you, these days there are plenty of fish and chip / kebab shops selling their used chip fat for a bargain price. Doesn’t start very well in cold conditions but doesn’t need much to make it combustible.
