how hard/expensive is it to get a work visa for the US? im feeling lazy and cant be arsed to research it myself at the moment, hoping someone may have already done it and be able to help…
nice one.
are you conviction free?
its VERY difficult to get in with criminal record, especially rugs
Just tell em you’re a Dolly Parton fan and they’ll let you in no questions asked.

no convictions for me yer honour. good upstanding member of society. 😉
but yeah no convictions so anyone got any ideas…
many cautions (although not convictions) also need pre-approval for visa.. I’ve got two for drugs and would need pre-approval..

dont think ive even got a caution for drugs, i think i do have one for fighting when i was about 17 though, but that shouldnt matter should it?
also im 99% certain that when they scan your passport this doesnt actually bring up your criminal record. but just any notes that have been made by immigration officials and that they pretty much expect you to just be honest on the application form on the plane…

it might be a problem, probably classed as violent crime and the USA is so strict from what I hear.
you would need to check, especially if its a long term stay. Bear in mind citizen database systems are constantly updated without consulting the public (if they impinge on criminal justice a certain amount of secrecy is tolerated or encouraged) so what might have been true 5 years ago may not be so today…
its a lottery as some constabularies don’t always correctly update PNC so the cautions aren’t always available out of area or to Scotland Yard.
I know from working for an organisation what uses enhanced CRB that everything often does come up including stuff from years ago. what with the special relationship it wouldn’t surprise me if US feds/immigration actually do have direct access to British CRB databases, at either end of the Atlantic! bear in mind also the recent change of government here and its implications..

yeah guess i better start doing some research myself!
ps. whats your sig and that bit next to your avatar mean? been meaning to ask you that for a while…
its off a now defunct Dutch brand of batteries, bicycle lamps and other portable lamps called “witte kat” (white cat) – similar to how some Everready batteries have a black cat with “9” lives and a lightning flash for a tail.
The signature means “my life is strong as a cat” (to show the batteries have a long life) and the bit by my avatar is a rhyme which was from their bicycle lights – and translates as “white cat – lights up the path”
