Forums › Life › Computers, Gadgets & Technology › Social Media › you can put this warning on your myspace
hello
i made this warning sign thingy for our myspace cos one of our parties got busted after someone apparenlty put it on the internet (possibly on this site but i’ve looked and can’t find it so it might have been removed)
i’m trying to get as many people as possible to put it on theirs as well.
you can put it on your myspace by c+p ing this code into whatever box you want

i doubt it was on this site, the mods are pretty tight on that kind of thing. i can guess where it was tho.
also, i think you might want to make clear that you’re talking about illegal parties/raves/freeparties, as otherwise the warning look a bit wierd?
well yeh i am talking about illegal parties i thought that would be obvious!
someone told me it was this site, but maybe they were wrong. you think it would have been squatjuice? i’ve looked there too
( is there a big rivalry between this site and squatjuice? am i stirring up a whole can of worms?)
no.
SJ also remove totally bait stuff if alerted but theres lots of other “rave-type” forums which deal more with legal events and don’t, won’t or don’t know how to protect unlicensed parties..
on any forum you can’t expect all the staff to be there 24/7 so people need to protect themselves..
One caveat about the sign – if kept in one place with the same filename it makes it extremely easy for the feds to work out how many people have linked to the sign and thus may be involved with unlicensed raves (all they need to do is scan the web for sites with the link code there(plus it would probably eventually exhaust its bandwidth allocation)
particularly murdochspace which is known to co-operate with law enforcement whenever asked..
those who use it should save it to multiple servers across the web with different file names and alt tags..
blimey
i hadn’t thought of that. they know who i am anyway though.
are the police in the habit of busting people just for being vaguely connected to the free party scene?
and it wouldn’t matter surely if people had stuff about parties on their myspace already?

depends what else the feds suspect them for – even a rig owner and party organiser who has a 9-5 job, a legal vehicle and isn’t stupid about drug taking isn’t going to get in trouble until or unless they do a party that goes pear shaped…
lots of my friends are in this situation but they don’t get constantly raided.
OTOH if cops have the suspicion that people are selling drugs to fund their partying, using illegal vehicles or are involved in other crime such as shoplifting/theft/scams (particularly if they brag about this stuff online) they can and will take action and if that involves tracing websites its a lot easier for them to do it now.
They can simply contact myspace say there is illegal activity on someones profile and murdochs lot tend to co-operate fully and hand over whatever info they want.
The net is no different from being in the pub, if you brag loudly about what crime you did you can easily get busted if a cop “overhears” you or someone who doesn’t agree with you grasses you up.
well we don’t do any of those things any more. it’s just not worth it for the reasons you’ve said. we try to do everything as legit as possible- we’re thinkn of setting up an events organising business for the legal things we do
imo if someone’s involved in stupid stuff like scams or theft and they get busted, it’s their own fucking fault not because they put my warning on their myspazz.
i’ve had a lot of my stuff robbed over the years so fuck ’em.
