The Taking Of Pelham 123?
its the only thing i can think of that matches your description…if i remember right,Walter Matthau is in it…good film.
mine would be,in no particular order
The City Of Lost Children
Delicatessen
Blue Velvet
Sleuth
Natural Born Killers
“its the taking of pelham, 123
if you want a do-do rhyme then come see me,
i got the several fits,
with the unique rhymin,
i keep it on and on, its never quittin time, an,
stickly hand held is the style i go,
never rock the mic with the panty hose
i strap on my ear goggles an im ready to
cos on the boards is the man they call mario!”
sure shot, beastie boys
was my intro, its a phat film.
havent seen sleuth or city of lost children, what r they like?
delicatessen is amasing and classic, blue velvet is sick and twisted, but essential viewing, im not a tarantino or stone fan, so born killers aint up my street. tarantino begins and ends with dogs, imo.
Natural born killers is a wierd film…I tried to watch it after a lot of buckfast and decided my head couldn’t handle it. My friend on the other hand sat smoking a lot of pollen an drinking more buckfast and in the end was standing on his doorstep (this normally docile person) shouting “I hate you, I’ll fucking kill you” at every passer by in the hope for a fight :bad_idea:. I had to take him inside and slap him out of it.
In no particular order…
Pulp Fiction
American Beauty
Fight Club
Magnolia
I know I’m forgetting the 5th one… I remember later and edit it in…
Just saw Delicatessen a couple of days ago. Amazing film which is now added to my list of favourites.
I saw Sin City in the cinema earlier tonight, loved it. Great filming technique, with the use of black and white and colour.
It definitely keeps the feel of a comic book story as well.
city of lost children looks wicked, i have to try and find it. sleuth i’ll keep my ear out for.
im a bit worried about the sincity film, as ive seen too many beautiful graphic novels shat all over (tank girl, hellboy, the later batmans) and i love frank millers drawings. plus i fucking hate tarantino.
other few films im well partial to are the raymond chandler / philip marlowe adaptations. farewell my lovely and the long goodbye are two well diferent films based on similar books, well interesting. the second one has been transplanted from 30’s filme noir to 60’s california, which some people hated but i love.
the first one contains the immortal line “i was tapped on the shoulder by a hand i could have sat in”… mint.
Taking of Pelham 123 must be it. Another little detail is the mayor has got the sniffles and can’t be arsed to get out of bed and deal with it.
Delicatessan i’ve only seen once. But from what I can remember it was a proper magical film.
As for Tank Girl. It did shit all over the graphic novels , but I must admit that it’s one of those films I enjoy watching no matter how many times I see it.
Frank Miller was the co-director for Sin City, so he helped keep it true to his own drawings, and through use of CGI they recreated the scenes from the drawings.
hi guys, god i hardly get time to post here anymore, but should be able more rgularly again soon! Saw this post which looked kinda interesting….
Films I love:
Donnie Darko – just a headfuck!
Before Sunrise – not usually a romantic film person but this is such a cool film
Human Traffic – it’s just so true to life and a real film of our times!

star wars (a new hope) – ’nuff said’
full metal jacketapocalypse now – ‘nam films kicks ass
taxi driver – moody camera work and dig that score…..
city of god – class
shaun of the dead – stupidity at its best……..
Hello there Uncle Jimmy. Good to have you along.
Nice selection of films too.
Right then…
12 Monkeys
City of God
Apocalypse Now
House of Flying Daggers
Carry on Up the Jungle (I have to choose this – my Mum’s in it)
This is a tremendous film, but on DVD, you can only get the ‘English Language’ version and the dubbing is attrocious – independant reviews have given the DVD release 1-2 stars (out of 5) because of this.
You can get the original language (French) version of it on video, and it is so much better – the delivery of words is equally as important as the visuals.
