i work bloody hard 12 hours a day 5 days a week just to have a shit load of my wages taken from me in taxes, and for what? to support these spongers. i live in oxford and have done all my life. Im a single 21 yr old female who has been on the list for council housing for five years, yes thats right, FIVE YEARS!!! If i had been from another country id have been given a key to a house and a benefits book at the airport on my arrival.
just a story- two days ago i phoned 118 118 to get a number and as you all know these are really expensive at about 50p per minute. A bloody immigrant answered who couldn’t speak or understand a word of english. I was on the phone for at least 5 mins spelling out smiths to her. what a waste of money. if they’re gonna live here then at least have the decency to speak our language.
Send ’em all ‘ome is what i say!!!!
are you being ironic, or are you really that fucking stupid? everything you say sounds like it’s been lifted out of the fucking daily mail.
i think you must be joking… all immigrants are spongers? completely the opposite. in my experience immigrants who’ve come from poorer countries are so fucking grateful for their job oppurtunity they fucking hard.
my mate worked at a big farm factory thing, he was working with 3 polish lads, apparently they wouldnt have an hour lunch break they were offered, the chose to have about 15 minutes to eat their pack-up and carry on, despite working 11 hour shifts, out of choice. if that’s being a sponger, then what the fuck isn’t?
anyway i’m distracting from the point. the point isnt that immigrants are better workers than british, or vice versa. the simple fact is each individual is gonna be different, and most of the time people are given jobs based on their work ethic
few facts
1. immigrants do not have any priority over british people when it comes to council houses
2. immigrants pay the same tax as a british person.
3. immigrants are not all spongers, that’s pure xenophobia for ya.
4. i may be wrong, but i think 118118 call centres are routed out to places like india. kinda ironic in your argument, don’t you think?
I’m all for immigrants especially the really fit birds from eastern Europe. We need more of them! :laugh_at:
i have nothing against immiagrants at all, i work with loads all lovely people, however the country is a bit full dont you think?
Just a tad! But as the government don’t seem to care I won’t bother as well! Although certain parts of that Rivers of Blood speech seems to be coming true don’t they!??! :hopeless:
Immigrant is seen as a dirty word… I know because I am one.
I get a bit pissed when its always referred to in a negative way.
For example I know from reading the English papers online that the whole immigrant issue has been in the news over recent months…
For example look at your hospitals and schools… who are there a lot of? Ozzies, nzers(me) and south africans….
For my first 2 years in London i taught in brixton, croydon, streatham (sp?)etc… and I knew it would be a bad day when I walked into a school and basically the whole staff were from these countries or like me doing daily supply… why? because it meant that no English born teacher wanted to work there. A lot of school staff at these schools barely acknowledge you as they know that chances are they will never see you again…I know for me i stayed at one school in brixton for another 2 years and then two years at a school with children from very extreme backgrounds… why? because I believe in what you can do for the kids not what they can do for you… was a hard few years…but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
So you have a few different types if immigrants…with the definition of immigrant being someone living in a country that they were not born in…
You have immigrants who are entitled to be there.. ie people from within the EU…
You have immigrants from countries affected by war and unrest
You have immigrants who are on working holiday visas (transient looking for work to travel and have a good time before going back home)
You have immigrants who are educated in their home country and are fulling in the gaps in shortage areas.
You have immigrants who are uneducated from poor countries who are trying to find a better life.
you have immigrants who are complete fuckers who milk the system for everything that they can.
So as you can see I personally reckon that immigrant is a word/term that is actually becoming inappropriate to describe all these different groups of people!
I know when there is bad press about “immigrants” that it also would have included me and my friends who all had jobs and contributed so it really shits me.
personally I think the UK has been way too soft on some immigrants and way to hard on others….. and from what i read they are now tightening up all the visa requiremements..who is it hitting the most? Skilled people from oz and NZ for example)…but how many of them are taking benefits??? NONE because we are not entitled to them..They need to look at where and WHO the states money is actually going to …
too little too late possibly… but I personally think that if you have a skill or a career and you are not going to take benefits then you should be allowed to work where you want.
ok i mentioned i was a teacher…. but i swear i was not a hag!!! I was a very chilled out and friendly one!!!!!!:weee:
You would be suprised (maybe not) at how many teachers and nurses like to party!!!!:laugh_at: :laugh_at: :laugh_at: :laugh_at:
all of the following are entitled to be here, provided they are not breaking any visa requirements:
who do you think we have been too soft on?
i don’t know what you’ve read, but for non-EU citizens there is now a points system, so people with skills that are needed here will find it easier to get in. people with a criminal record will find it harder.
everyone here was an immigrant once (you know what i mean) so first come first served and 60 million is when we have to start thniking about 1 out 1 in
bollox my dads stig of the dump…
By entitled I mean you can move freely to live and work throughout the EU community without visa restrictions.
Of course a visa entitles you also… but it is full of conditions.
thats the difference between the one of the groups and the others…
(sorry cant get the quote thinge to do what I want….)
I am trying to make the point that when the word “immigrant” is used I don’t think it fairly describes all these groups of people… when it is used it is used usually in a negative way.
London has always been crowded because of the sheer density of the area plus its always seen as the first destination for new immigrants like any capital city
take a look at London on one of those 3d map things like google earth and then try somewhere in Suffolk or Norfolk and it will soon be apparent why London is crowded (also South London has grown a lot in the last 16 years)
Round here in East Anglia there are large expanses of fuck all and villages where few people are under 45
in some areas they don’t have enough young people of any nationality to do work like fruit picking etc..
also a lot of immigrants go back after they have made enough money.
Plus a lot of the middle class and richer White British elderly people leave the UK permanently each year because its “too liberal” (i.e drugs/raves etc still happen) – ironically many go to Middle Eastern and Asian countries with less freedom because “they are better run like how the Empire should have been”.
I read today that in West Africa they are advertising Thamesmead as a posh London destination :you_crazy

well for me, I’m an earthling, and believe in no boarders or boundarys of Man,
we are a nomadic people, live as we should 🙂
i know that it can be unsletting for some people, but i have no problem 🙂
well said!
sure when everyone moves into england it will get shittier, but then people will start moving out, eventually the world will reach a balance.
my uncle is a town planner for the council, commisions the buildin of large estates etc.
his view is that the country is full – however this is not relating to immigrants, just population growth in general. he doesnt have a problem with immigration, he is left-wing like all that side of my family (old-school labourites).
he reckons that our population is too dense in areas and that proportionately britain has too many people in it.
not an immigration debate, but i found it an interesting view so i thought id bring it up.
personally im comfortable with the density.
