my uncle is a town planner for the council, commisions the buildin of large estates etc.
his view is that the country is full – however this is not relating to immigrants, just population growth in general. he doesnt have a problem with immigration, he is left-wing like all that side of my family (old-school labourites).
he reckons that our population is too dense in areas and that proportionately britain has too many people in it.
There is a massive and rising birth rate amongst native British people in some regions particularly regions of England.
In Suffolk alone there were 10 000 live births across the NHS region last year.
That is a lot of babies…
Most families seem to have gone from 2 or 3 kids to 4 or 5 due to couples splitting up and re-forming with new partners who (perhaps unsurprisingly) want to balance the amount of stepkids with their own offspring.
I have to admit if I got with a woman with a kid I’d actually want one or two of my own simply to avoid feeling cuckolded (even though I don’t really want the hassle of looking after kids), I know its a old fashioned male way of thinking but you can’t override your instincts..

its just a bit of a shame when someone has those views, i know we disagree on a lot of political thinks but enoch really was fucking national front and that speech was horrible

mmmm, dunno if its instincts at all mate. theres plenty of people i know who have chosen to have a different set-up than the traditional nuclear family unit.
personally i’d rather foster than have my own children.
i think its all about what works for you, rather than instincts.

Maybe there’s a different term but given my otherwise progressive views on many other subjects it is part of a “non-PC” side of me; quite simply I would genuinely feel odd about raising someone elses kids if I hadn’t produced any of my own yet at the same time I wouldn’t really want those kids, my own would be there to “prove my masculinity” and to “even the numbers” rather than a real paternal desire.
I think a lot of men do actually feel that way (and it leads to a lot of unloved children being born) but few are bold enough to admit this feeling.

but powell was as bad as the bnp
He may well have been a racist cunt and yeah it was horrible but some parts are coming true, I add not all of it though, most of it is utter drivel but some parts are coming true, i know this because i have experienced it first hand from talking to folk on the street, the majority of which share the same views.
I have become quite politically active this year (think it’s cos of the lack of happy drugs available :crazy_diz) and because of my work i travel all over the country and can actually ask people on the street (or in my companies shops ) what they think of Britain today and what issues concern them.
The answer is usually always the same, Immigration and crime (the former being the majority) and the feelings of being ignored, the fact most folk get their information from the media, ie Newspapers etc doesn’t help cos they tend to believe the stories they read and use that to form their opinions. The majority i’ve found used to support Labour but have no faith in them anymore.
Most of the people i’ve spoken to are swinging towards the BNP because they feel this party will listen to them.
I do actually try to dissuade em from voting BNP cos i don’t actually believe these folk know what they (bnp) actually stand for.
I just think that instead of branding folk automatically racist because they air a concern over issues like immigration, we need to address these issues like adults and look at them with a bit more common sense.
The more you alienate people ie calling them racist and ignoring their views the more they will turn to groups like the BNP because that’s the only way they can protest. Ie their votes.
Man i need some mandy. I’m getting far too involved with politics these days. :crazy_diz

its worth also being aware there is an increasingly strong anti-immigration sentiment amongst established British Asians and other Black/ethnic minority communitys. Yes a lot of it is stomping hard on the knuckles of others trying to climb the ladder, but in a competitive world why would people not use whatever power they can put their hands on?
thanks to globalisation I now have to compete with my own ancestors children (in India/Bangladesh and other such places) for jobs as do many British Asians. Of course thats going to make people fucking angry…
perhaps that isn’t a bad thing. During the so-called “good old days” of the 1990s a whole load of people (myself included) got distracted from the bigger picture and a lot of opportunities to genuinely make the world better were lost.

It’s funny you say that. Quite a few British Asians i’ve spoken to have these sort of views. At the post office of a shop i did the other day this little old Indian woman goes “I wish all these do-gooding PC bastards would just let us all get along and stop stirring shit up!” so funny mate, She was my hero after that, 😉

I’ve thought about getting involved more directly with politics lately but who to? Most of the parties are full of shit imo.

political parties are a dead end – the Greens are promising but their movement in some areas are full of upper class toffs going through extended teenage rebellion. Democracy is a sham anyway for as long as large corporates run the world.
stuff like transition towns movement is worth getting involved in, and the leviticus lot round your way have some good ideas.

party politics is for the ballot only
think global, act local
improve your community, whatever really, setting up youth programmes, raise recycling awareness, local sports teams, anything that is community based.
its these little things by ordinary people that make society as a whole progress, the revolutionaries only play a small part.

the greens are trying to change that image though. they are havin quite a bit of success in the younger (my) generation, they got lots of support from people at my college and obviously it was a state college and school and wasnt posh by any means

Yeah that actually sounds better than being involved with a party. I have a lot of spare time on my hands so it could be quite worthwhile having a look into some of these, Nice one Boothy! :group_hug
